Factor in Persistence
Teacher: Lonnie Greenawalt

Do you realize that written articles, ready for publication, are every where?

Web sites are getting on the band wagon daily offering free content for a publisher's E-zine and doing a real fine job of it.

Why would web sites do this? The old elusive nemesis - Traffic!

This article is not about web sites, content, and traffic but about how you can beat the competition. Believe it or not, there is competition to get your article published.

I read somewhere that there are over 90,000 E-zines online at this time and more being added daily.

You would think that with that many E-zines online that it would be no problem to have an article that you have written to be snatched up right off the drawing boards.

Not necessarily so!

The problem, as I see it, is threefold

1. With 90,000 E-zines online, there are probably just about that many articles and reports out there.

2. Most E-zine Publishers write their own articles and may include one guest article in their E-zine. The guest article they are looking for will normally be written by some of the big name authors in that marketing sector. This lends credibility to their E-zine. (No problem, I do the same)

3. Just about every subject imaginable has already been written about and in depth.

So what does the average guy/gal, just starting out, do to get his/her article published?

Since most subjects have already been covered, you must put a new spin on it or (this is very important) write about YOUR own unique personal experience, whether success or failure.

If it is a success, write about the steps you took to achieve that success and how anyone can achieve the same success.

In the failure experience, you must specify why it was a failure, the steps you took to correct the failure, and show how your audience can avoid making the same mistakes.

I have also noticed a growing trend in published articles.

The serious articles are still being published, while a growing proportion of articles that are published tend to be light and a touch humorous. That is where a personal experience comes in handy.

Once you have written your article, what is your most important tool to get published?

PERSISTENCE!

Keep after it. If you think that your article is worth while, don't give up.

Submit, Submit, Submit.

All you need is one major publisher to pick up your article or a lot of smaller ones to publish it and you will have subscribers or customers beating a path to your web site or E-zine.

Let me drive the point home, persistence will get you where you want to be.
